Lee J. Morehead, Partner
A Greeley native, Lee has been an aggressive advocate since his youth. His success on the high school debate team provided him the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level. From there, law school was a natural fit. Lee excelled, participating in Law Review, receiving top grade in both Constitutional Law and Bankruptcy, and graduating with honors.
Despite a tight job market, at graduation Lee accepted a position as an employment attorney. Not long after beginning his career, Lee’s grandfather, a retired local business and mineral owner, had questions: Should I sell my minerals? Should I accept this lease? Is any of this negotiable? Passionate about helping his grandfather, Lee became engrossed in oil and gas law.
As Lee’s practice grew, more and more clients sought assistance transferring minerals through probate. Some of those transfers became contentious. Lee drew upon his skills as an advocate to help families navigate the dynamic probate system, specifically the unique conflicts that arise in this area. Since then, Lee has had the pleasure of representing numerous probate clients in both District Court and the Court of Appeals. Lee’s published cases include Fritzler v. Mitchell (In re Estate of Fritzler), 413 P.3d 163 (Colo. App. 2017).
In addition to family, Lee values service and community which is reflected in his work for the Weld County Bar Association and the Boy Scouts of America.
